These flew over our house

04 Jul

Apparently we have a flightpath over our neighborhood when the weather is nice.  Yesterday we saw 7 hot air balloons and this 4 aircraft formation.

Theater room painted, looks awesome!

27 Jun

The pictures you are about to see do not do the room justice.  It is great looking! Cant wait to get the 100″ fixed screen in so I can start using it.  I did however blow a fuse in my sub speaker today…I hope its just a blown fuse and not an indication of a problem.

Improving our theater!

24 Jun

Well, say goodbye to the electric drop 84″ screen and say hello to the 100″ fixed screen and a completely flat black viewing area.  The build starts this weekend!

Last day of vacation. Few more things done

21 Jun

We painted our study today. It’s a light brown-beige color. Photos don’t show it very well. The room looks great.

I bought the flat black paint to paint the walls and ceiling in the theater. I will also be replacing the 84″ electric screen with a 100″ fixed screen. I have removed the 52″ tv from the theater in hopes it will look well above the fireplace. Corinne thinks it will be too large.

The black walls will remove all light reflection on the wall and make a more theater experience. Looks like I will be painting next weekend. :(

After 2 trips to Ikea and 3 days of installing, the bookcase is in.  It looks great now and will look even better when we add more books.

My Arduino Parking Sensor is Done! sort of

16 Jun

Well, the microprocessor is in the case and everything is wired.  I am waiting on delivery for one more LED indicator for one parking spot.  The sensor for the civic works great. The unit is turned on by an Insteon OutletLinc only when the garage door is open, and when the car reaches 42 inches from the sensor (the wall), the light lights up.

I just have to mount the controller box to the wall and clean up the mounts for the light and ultrasonic sensors.

New project

14 Jun

We started a new project today, bookcases for our study. Here is a picture in progress, will update once we are done. The plan is the entire back wall will be bookcases. :)

Not much new here

07 Jun

Not a whole lot going on here.  Just relaxing a bit.  Corinne and I watched Avatar (Bluray) and it was amazing.  Great movie.

I received the last order of sprinkler system parts (hopefully) to finish the drip irrigation for the front landscaping.  I will most likely attempt to install it in the next week or so.  Whenever it isnt too hot outside.

My parking sensor is awaiting one more ultrasonic sensor and some brackets.  I think its ready to go.  I should have it mounted for testing by the end of the week.

I am modifying my homemade router/firewall at home to run Pfsense 2.0 beta on a hard drive instead of a flash card.  This will allow me to run squid (http cache proxy), havp (anti-virus scanner), and other network monitoring tools. They cannot be run on a flash card since the card has a finite read/write life.
