My Arduino Parking Sensor is Done! sort of

16 Jun

Well, the microprocessor is in the case and everything is wired.  I am waiting on delivery for one more LED indicator for one parking spot.  The sensor for the civic works great. The unit is turned on by an Insteon OutletLinc only when the garage door is open, and when the car reaches 42 inches from the sensor (the wall), the light lights up.

I just have to mount the controller box to the wall and clean up the mounts for the light and ultrasonic sensors.

We now have a lot more space to store unused items now that the attic stairs are in.  I just have to putty and paint some rough areas on the ceiling. Thanks Ken, for all the help.

High Lift Garage Door Installed.

18 Jan

Today I had the garage door high rise installed.  Things went mostly smoothly. The installer did drop the door opener, which he said would be replaced next week.  It works, but i dont trust it.  It dropped HARD!! It broke a switch off and something else.

I needed the door to be within 5 inches of the ceiling.  At first, I wasnt sure how it was going to turn out.  After he finished, it was much better than I thought.  I am about 3 inches from the ceiling and I will have no problem with installing the lift.

Garage floor done!

20 Oct

I applied the epoxy sealer today on the garage floor.  This week is suppose to be really nice weather wise, mid 60s – 70.  I hope it is good enough so it cures.  I have one concern though.  I bought a 2 car garage kit.  It comes with 2 1-gallon epoxy cans.  I only used 1!  Maybe I put it on too thin?  The only good thing I can think of about this is that I have more than enough for a second coat if its needed.  I just dont want to have to do it.  :)   here are some pics

Garage floor prepped today.

17 Oct

I prepped the garage floor today for the epoxy coating tomorrow.  I used a razor blade to clean off the stuff that was stuck on the floor.  I hosed it off.  Then i applied the acid etch.  Its a citric acid that cleans the surface of the concrete.  It fizzes like hydrogen peroxide does.  Anyway, so the floor is clean and drying.

My only concern is temperature.  Right now its about 40 degrees outside.  The garage stays around 62 or so.  The instructions say to use it when air temp is above 60 and concrete temp is above 55.  Monday is suppose to be 55 or so, and then up to about 60 toward the end of the week.  I am gonna give it a shot.  I have a digital thermometer in the garage and i feel that the floor is above 55.   Pictures once completed tomorrow will be posted.
