Theater room painted, looks awesome!

27 Jun

The pictures you are about to see do not do the room justice.  It is great looking! Cant wait to get the 100″ fixed screen in so I can start using it.  I did however blow a fuse in my sub speaker today…I hope its just a blown fuse and not an indication of a problem.

Improving our theater!

24 Jun

Well, say goodbye to the electric drop 84″ screen and say hello to the 100″ fixed screen and a completely flat black viewing area.  The build starts this weekend!

Last day of vacation. Few more things done

21 Jun

We painted our study today. It’s a light brown-beige color. Photos don’t show it very well. The room looks great.

I bought the flat black paint to paint the walls and ceiling in the theater. I will also be replacing the 84″ electric screen with a 100″ fixed screen. I have removed the 52″ tv from the theater in hopes it will look well above the fireplace. Corinne thinks it will be too large.

The black walls will remove all light reflection on the wall and make a more theater experience. Looks like I will be painting next weekend. :(

New subwoofer for the theater.

01 Nov

A friend from work today stopped over today to let me try his Klipsch subwoofer before I decided to buy it.  Its a RPW-10 sub.  My old sub was a Polk 8″ sub. This new one is awesome compared to my old one.  It shakes the house. Corinne is not too found of that, but I love it.  It is basically brand new, and he is giving me a great deal.

Man cave nearing completion

10 Aug

Well, not really. It’s only half the room and I still have to put the speakers in the roof. But our newest addition will allow us to sit comfortably and watch the tv/projector.

It’s a berkline rocking/reclining loveseat with console. So very comfortable. It will be delivered Friday. We will have to figure out seating for guests, but for now we will be very comfortable.

Theater Room near completion

07 Aug

I finished a big piece of the theater room today. The electric projection screen is hanging. I could not hang it any sooner because I needed to make sure the TV on the wall would not get in the way. I took a chance and ordered 6″ brackets made for a different screen (although suppose to work with mine) and hoped that the screen would have enough clearance. It has alittle less than 1″ between the TV when the screen goes down. The TV was mounted with a low profile mount, so it only sticks out about 5″ or so. I have also included a video :) Its about 1 and a half minutes and shows the screen operation. The screen will look a little dim until the projector warms up.

Theater speakers installed

30 Jul

Just finished installing 5 in-wall polk speakers. It was much easier than I thought it would. And the best part is a wire was in the wall at each place I cut. I am thankful they were not list in the wall.

The basement aka ManCave

19 Jul

So, my plans for the basement will be the following:

Home Theater with 7.1 Surround Sound and 100″ electric drop down screen.  Behind the screen will be a 52″ LCD TV on the wall for game play. This picture is of the wall where the tv and screen will be.  Notice the 3 ft high outlets.  They will be covered by the wall mounted TV.  Also, the wall is pre-wired for the in-wall surround speakers.

Basment Theater Wall

The other half of the basement will have a bar, pool table, and poker table.   There will be a small LCD TV mounted at the bar which will be a clone of whatever is playing at the other side of the room.  The bar will have a small half size refrigerator.  There is a bathroom in the basement also. Here is the area that the pool table and bar will be.
